Whew - a lot going on!

Flight was fantastic and our three trips to the Opera in Austin last year were fantastic! Had 44 people on the last group - it rocked....

Students also wrote and received a grant from ACE - using it for a field trip day to Book People (downtown) and Half Price Books (Lamar) to buy cool new books for the library. Nancy and I kicked butt and got them processed in time for summer check out - so hope they're all enjoying them!

I read through the first 12 of the Dresden Files (J Butcher) and loved the Chicago wizard and his activities. Should be great to sell to teen boys!

In addition - I finally ordered almost all of the Laura Bush Library Foundation grant monies for books. Still have to work on the magazines - that's next! TY LBF for supporting our school!

Am currently attempting the "Follett Challenge" with a movie titled Guerilla Marketing @ Your Library. I have also just completed a sxsw.org  -  interactive - proposal titled the same. Hopefully I'll get to present! Plan to bring a few students with to man the tech :)

Hot hot hot here in Texas...'tis summer after all

SXSW - Geeking it Up!

Yee haw! Another SXSW week of fun & learning occurred over spring break...and I loved it! Check out the pix from the DearNewOrleans crew - nice filming gang!
You can check out some of the other hashtags @ Dear New Orleans (Facebook Photo pages)

I also got a little lost in the clouds (data, cloud, it's all a bit fluffy to me!) Hence the new fluffy data blog - where I plan to geek out and write about all the amazing tech / geek stuff going on, how I feel about it - and where it may have ramifications for our happy little education community.

Twilight hits it on the head

(or should I say “the neck” instead?)

And Percy Jackson, Lightning Thief,

Shows Gods alive – beyond belief!

And Sapphire’s life: an awesome message

In PUSH, or should I just say Precious?

The Absolutely True Diary of a part-time Indian

Makes me laugh and want to draw again.

And Esperanza really isn’t Rising

From ranch to hovel (but she finds a life again)

And Jericho? Man he just kicks _ _ _!

But does it well with thought and class

You see, these stories have some punch

So just pick up a book at lunch

And maybe then you’ll come to see

A whole new side of the library!

Puzzle on this!

yeah - so geek that I am, I also draw in my spare time to damp down the ADD....and I created a puzzle of sorts - i once attempted to break it down in Photoshop (success) and re-assemble in Flash - so you could actually make the puzzle on line....alas, my action scripting skills not strong enough.....
